Library Photo Competition 2011… Now on Flickr!

Earlier this year we launched another photography competition and were treated to a stunning range of images. And rather than just keep them to ourselves (as much as we’d like to!) we’ve posted them all onto the Library’s own Flickr account.

The theme of this year’s competition was Celebrating 30 Years of the Pilkington Library, and the eventual winner was this photograph on the left by Daniel Child, chosen from a strong field of no fewer than 121 entries!

As well as being uploaded to Flickr a number of the photos have been turned into posters and are being displayed around the Library. There’s also an exhibition of some them on a stand near the main Customer Services desk on Level 3. Why not have a browse while you’re passing?

University Library 2011 photography competition

Do you want to win an Amazon voucher up to the value of £125? If the answer is yes, then why not enter the 2011 Loughborough University Library photography competition? The University’s Pilkington Library is in its 30th year and the photography competition is part of the celebrations taking place in 2011. The theme is “Celebrating 30 years of the Pilkington Library”. It is open to individual interpretation but entries must capture what should be celebrated about the University Library.

More information is provided on the University Library web pages:  http://www.lboro.ac.uk/library/about/PhotographyProj.html

The competition will be open until midnight on the 13th May 2011 and the prizes will be:

• 1st prize: Amazon vouchers to the value of £125

• 2nd prize: Amazon vouchers to the value of £75

• 3rd prize: Amazon vouchers to the value of £50

The winning photo from the 2010 competition is included below. If you need any further information, contact Brant Hickman (b.m.hickman@lboro.ac.uk).

The winner of the 2010 Library Photographic Competition, taken by Wei Cheng

The winners of this year’s  Library Photographic Competition  have been announced. Wei Cheng won first prize with this picture above.

Second prize was awarded to Cheng-Siew Beh, and third to Nadya Pandelieva. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Neil Halliwell visited the library last week to award the prizes.

Composed on the theme “What do you like about Loughborough University Library?”, some of the entries were quite stunning  and innovative and the judges ultimately found it difficult to pick an outright winner!

The pick of the bunch are currently on display in the Library on Level 3 and you can find a photostream of the entries here.

Many thanks to everyone who took part.
