One month into the start of term and you may already have begun to feel all ‘written out’, but how about participating in a spot of writing that’s actually FUN?!?
National Novel Writing Month starts on November 1st and sets you 30 – count ‘em, 30 – days to write a 50,000 word novel. Why? Well, they do say that everyone has a novel inside them… and let’s face it, J.K. Rowling had to start somewhere, and look where she is today!
For last year’s competition over 250,000 people participated, and while only 36,000 of them made the midnight deadline, that’s still 36,000 new novelists who achieved their ambition – and who knows, maybe the next Harry Potter was created…
Stuck for a little inspiration? Well, we’ve got novels of every description among our literature section on Level 2, including a selection of contemporary bestsellers among our new Leisure Reading collection on Open 3 – everything you might need to stir your creative juices!
If it’s guidance on the actual nuts & bolts of writing you require, we have plenty of books available on the craft of creative writing and authorship – skills and information that would probably stand in you in good stead for your dull old essays and reports, too!
