Want a quick, easy, and above all, FUN! way to help boost your academic studies? Look no further than our new Leisure Reading collection in Open3!

Research indicates that those who regularly read for pleasure are more likely to achieve academically. The National Endowment for the Arts highlighted in a 2007 report that “frequency of reading for pleasure correlates strongly with academic achievement.”

With that in mind, we’ve decided to launch our own Leisure Reading Collection in the Library, with simple aim of encouraging students to read recreationally. Presently it comprises of over two hundred books ranging from classic contemporary novels by the likes of Stephen King, Stieg Larsson and Terry Pratchett, popular autobiographies by and about luminaries such as Claire Balding, Stephen Fry and Freddy Mercury, and a range of graphic novels and comic book collections including Batman, Judge Dredd and Tintin. Something to cater for all tastes!

Why not check out our collection on Library Catalogue Plus – they’re all tagged under ‘Leisure Reading’ – or simply come in and have a browse of the shelves, which are situated outside the entrance to the High Demand Section on Open3. We’re adding to our range all the time, so pop back often!
