Award nominations for Loughborough films

Two films created by our in-house video team have been nominated for a Learning on Screen Award. They’re the only UK awards celebration of media production in learning, teaching and research. Both films are up for the “general in-house production award”.

This video follows Professor John Mardaljevic from the University’s School of Civil and Building Engineering. The project with National Trust Ickworth in Suffolk looks at balancing conservation of the property, and access to the public. Professor Mardaljevic’s work measures how strong the daylight is in the room over the course of a day. The research has gone on to inform opening hours, in order to best protect the interior furnishings and artwork from sunlight.

“I had wanted to film in the old Generator Gallery space in the old Art School on Frederick Street for some time. When I got the brief I knew that filming the interview there would really give it the ‘wow factor’, breathing life into the ‘light’ subject matter and lending a nice counterpoint to the Ickworth House material.” Dominic Richardson, Producer.

Our other nomination gives an insight into our Fine Art course at Loughborough. A final year student, Amelia, describes the journey of discovery and creativity which her degree has taken her on, as she prepares to display at her final degree show.

“Making the video of Amelia was really rewarding. It was great to follow and document her final weeks leading up to the final show. She was such a great character and spoke so insightfully on her journey at Loughborough and the processes of creating Art.” James Poole, Producer.

Good luck to our entries! The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 28 April at the British Film Institute in London. See the full list of nominations by clicking here.
