New Library web pages available 9th February 2012

New library homepage

The Library will be re-launching its website on 9th February. The new site has been completely redesigned by the web team in Marketing and Communications and the Library. It has been developed using the University’s new content management system. This means the new web site will be visually more attractive, will allow information about library services to be accessed more effectively and be easier to update by Library staff.

Initial testing has already taken place with University students who were impressed with the new pages.

Library featured in WInter 2011 News at Lboro

Do you want to know what is the most expensive e-journal the Library has a subscription for? Or how many books the Library issued in 2009/10? If the answer is Yes to either of these then read the feature in the Winter 2011 issue of News at lboro .

The University’s staff magazine has run a two page feature (pages 12 – 13) highlighting the Library and its achievements.

The cover of this issue is provided by the images produced by the Library’s 2010/ 2011 Artist in Residence, Rebecca Hall.

Farewell to Library Interns

For the past month, the Library has had three interns working on various projects. They are all students on the  International Masters in Digital Library Learning offered in cooperation between Oslo & Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (Norway), Tallinn University (Estonia), and the University of Parma (Italy).

At the end of the internship, the students (Ewelina Melnarowicz, Jing Wu and, Muharrem Yilmaz) gave a presentation to Library staff about their course. They will be greatly missed as they have fitted in well and worked very hard whilst here. They have worked on projects focussing on marketing digital resources, handling digital research data and virtual chat services for Library users

Library web pages to change in early 2012

This past year the Library has been developing new web pages as the current ones have been around for 5 years. The University’s Content Management System has been used to design and input content to ensure the Library’s pages will reflect the University’s pages.

Using CMS will mean the pages are easier to update and the information will be displayed more clearly and concisely. November and December 2011 has been given over to testing the pages with users and so far so good! Information will be easier to find and will be more succinct. The intention is to move across to the new pages in early 2012. Watch this space.
