Literature Online – Athens Access Issues

lion screenshot

We have been experiencing issues over Athens username & password access to the Literature Online (LION) database. ProQuest are at present working to resolve the issue, but we’ve discovered a work-around that may help in the meantime.

Most people seem to get the error message in the screenshot above. However, if you follow the link displayed at the top of the LION screen to the ‘brand new version’, access appears to work, though you may have to persevere until it does. It also worth clearing your internet cache and cookies.

If you experience any further issues, please contact the Customer Services Desk (ext.222360) or email Ask a Librarian for further assistance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Science Direct Access Difficulties

We are currently experiencing some difficulties with accessing journals via the Science Direct database on Library Catalogue Plus. This appears to be caused by some issues with data migration within the service.

We have managed to come up with a workaround for this issue for the mean time until Science Direct can resolve the issue fully. It works as follows:

  • Clear your cache & cookies.
  • Go to www.athens.ac.uk
  • Login with your Athens username and password.
  • Select Science Direct from the List of Resources.
  • Choose the ‘NESLI Loughborough University, IPs’ option.
  • And then try to open an article.

If you experience any further issues, please contact the Customer Services Desk (ext.222360) or email Ask a Librarian for further assistance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.
