Budding artists looking to get themselves noticed may like to take a peek at a new exhibition being held at the SOCK Gallery in the Loughborough Town Hall this summer.
The Open Exhibition was first launched last year and was so successful the organisers have decided to run it again this year. It’s open to submissions from artists of any calibre over the age of 11 with the primary aim of providing a platform for their work as well as permitting local townsfolk the opportunity to sample a broad range of artwork from a variety of mediums and styles.
Submissions need to be made to the Town Hall between Thursday 25th July – Saturday 27th July (10AM -5PM daily). The exhibition itself will be open from Wednesday 7th August to Tuesday 3rd September in the SOCK Gallery in the Town Hall.
Modern art lovers may also like to check out an exhibition of the work of the French artist Henri Matisse currently on display in the gallery until Saturday 3rd August. Matisse: Drawing with Scissors, is a Hayward Touring exhibition from the Southbank Centre, featuring 35 lithographic prints of his famous cut-out work, including many of his iconic images, such as The Snail and the Blue Nudes.
