The end of October sees the beginning of the campus harvest – join with the Uni’s Sustainability Team to help celebrate the fruits of the campus.
Starting on Friday 25th October from the Student Union at 12PM, help harvest the fruit trees on campus and take some home with you. They’ll be harvesting all day so please phone or text 0784 9073394 to find out where they are to join in. Following that from 2PM, they’ll be literally pressing the fruits of the their labour to make delicious juice or cider with Transition Loughborough’s homemade apple press. Bring a bottle to take some away!
The fun begins again at the Shed (in the LAGS Garden next to Car Park 5) the next day at 12.30PM with a lunch-time walk exploring the Fruit Walk, followed by a delicious lunch of fresh hot soup, followed by an afternoon of more apple pressing, a demonstration of how to make chutney, and how to carve a Halloween Jack-O-Lantern with one of the garden’s own pumpkins. The day is ended with a Harvest bonfire party (kicking off at 6PM), complete with live music from world musicians Solana. And lots more food!
All are welcome and all events are free.
Eat Your Campus is Landscaping & Gardening Society (LAGS) and Fruit Routes working together to celebrate and learn about food growing and foraging on campus.
