I found it an interesting experience when Taylor & Francis asked me for a blog posting about the role of an editor. Even though I have been editing academic journals (Health Information and Libraries Journal (1998 – 2004) and New Review of Academic Librarianship (2004 to date) for a while I had never reflected on what the editor’s role actually was. It came as quite a shock when I jotted down all the things involved along with the different groups to be engaged with. Editing is always something I have enjoyed and capturing the various elements made me realise that this enjoyment is linked in with the variety. Long may it continue.
