CRCC Welcomes Local Councillors and MP

The Centre for Research in Communication and Culture participated in several events on May 9th as part of a campus visit by Cllr. Naomi Bottomley, Dr. Jeevun Sandher, MP, and Cllr. Margaret Smidowicz.

Margaret Smidowicz, who is the Conservative Charnwood Borough Councillor for Loughborough Nanpantan, Dr. Jeevun Sandher, who is the Labour Member of Parliament for Loughborough, Shepshed, and the Villages and Cllr. Naomi Bottomley, who is the Green Charnwood Borough Councillor for Sileby & Seagrave and the Leicestershire County Councillor for Sileby & The Wolds.

Schedule Highlights:

  • 12:30–13:00 – Lunch (CRCC event): An opportunity to meet Dr. Sandher and chat informally over lunch.
  • 13:00–14:00 – The Future of Higher Education Policy (LUCU event): Dr. Sandher shared his perspective on the direction of HE policy and then answered questions from staff.
  • 14:30–16:00 – Life in Politics (IRPH/CRCC event): This session kicked off with refreshments and nd a chance for networking, followed by a panel where Cllr. Bottomley, Dr. Sandher, and Cllr. Smidowicz talked about how they got into politics and then answered questions from the audience.
