Doctoral College

Introducing Solomon Osei, the PGR President!…

Solomon is the new Postgraduate Research (PGR) President for the next academic year. He is a second-year PhD student working with the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughbororough University and the Institute of Digital Technologies at Loughborough University London.

As the PGR President, Solomon’s goal is to enhance the Loughborough doctoral experience by representing the views of PGRs at a range of University committees (such as the Research Committee and PGR Sub-Committee). To achieve this, he plans to pro-actively gather feedback from PGR students (directly and indirectly via the PGR Representatives within each School/Department) about their experiences from initial application through to graduation.

Solomon will work closely with the PGR Vice President, the LSU Executive (notably the Postgraduate Executive Officer) and LSU Student Voice to lead new initiatives for PGRs. Solomon will also liaise with the Graduate School and regularly attend and participate at PGR events.

If you see Solomon on campus, say hello! You can also follow the PGR President team on Twitter (@PGR_President) for regular updates on PGR activities.

Solomon’s PG tips:

“The doctoral journey is sometimes like travelling to an unknown land; it can be full of uncertainties and challenges. If you become stuck, don’t keep your problem to yourself. Reach out to the support available to you, whether that’s your research group or one of the many Student Services. I’d also recommended popping along to the student-led PhD Social Support Network; it provides a regularl opportunity each week to socialise with fellow doctoral students”.
