Written by Farah Bader. Hello! I’m Farah Badar and i’m the new Doctoral Researcher Vice President (also known as PGR Vice President)! I’m a second-year PhD student at the Centre for Sustainable Manufacturing and Recycling Technologies (SMART) in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering. As Vice President i’m excited to work closely with the President, the Reps and all Doctoral Researchers to positively enhance the Loughborough doctoral experience and expand the research culture at both campuses. I plan to ensure that all concerns raised by Doctoral Researchers are heard and answered, for a better doctoral experience and community.
Tips: Whether you are a new starter, in the middle of your degree or near submission, we can all relate to the pressures of our doctoral programmes. Just remember, you are not alone, we are all on the same rollercoaster. Through the highs and lows, reach out to your fellow PGR students and reps, tell them about your day; about that failed experiment or the awful writer’s block that you managed to overcome! Share both the joys and sorrows, because no one will understand them better that those that are on the same journey.
