Introducing the DR Lead Reps

SDCA – Wenyan Luo

Hi everyone. I am Wenyan Luo and I am the lead representative for the school of Design and Creative Arts. This is the first year of my PhD. I am looking forward to working with the DR Reps from SDCA and collaborating with all the Lead Reps to improve the DR experience at Loughborough University. As a Rep, I am passionate about listening to your requirements and considering your situation, and when necessary, bringing them to the school in order to nurture a positive and productive researcher community. So, I am standing on your side and supporting you. Don’t be shy. Come chat with us if you have any questions, concerns, uncertainties.

SSEHS – Amber Guest

Hi everyone! I’m the lead rep for the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Science. I’m in my final year of my PhD, which primarily focuses on improving the health of lorry drivers. I’m currently conducting a process evaluation on a health intervention for lorry drivers, using both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Outside of the PhD, I live in Loughborough with my girlfriend and my dog Ziggy, we’re always out exploring the countryside. I also play football for the Loughborough Vixens and go wakeboarding in the warmer months. I’m really looking forward to getting involved as the lead rep this year, I’ll be there to support other researchers and to liaise on your behalf with the doctoral research committee. Please feel free to get in touch with me whenever you want!

Science – Percy Reyes

I am a second-year PhD researcher in Computer Science (Cryptography) at Loughborough University; researching on cryptographic Boolean functions to make their properties stronger and more resistant to algebraic attacks. Since I am more interested in the mathematical side of cryptography, I also did my dissertation on cryptography, as part of my Master in Advanced Computer Science at Loughborough University in 2018.

I also have a passion for database query processing and distributed database systems, in fact, I have been working as a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) for almost two decades now. I have extensive experience managing critical database servers on all SQL Server versions and editions.

London – Anna Farello

I am a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University London, studying Sport for Development and Peace. My thesis involves a combination of ethnographic and action research as I participates in a Think Tank under the Olympic Refuge Foundation. My research interests include refugees and sport, positive youth development through sport, and creative qualitative methods.

SABCE – George Dawes

I am George Dawes, a second-year PhD student and lead doctoral research rep for the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering (SABCE). My research investigates energy flexibility from a planning perspective, which relies on learning and understanding work from several branches of learning. Similar to my research, and as the lead rep, I want to bridge the gap between the different specialisms within SABCE and promote communication and diversity across the school.
