Casper-dbase server unavailable Monday 6th 08:30am – 10:00am

What is happening

The casper-dbase server, which is the server which hosts the Casper Suite for the Multi-Boot iMac Labs service, requires some urgent OS updates. This is necessary in order to further protect the server from the well-publicised ‘Shellshock’ bash vulnerability.

How will the works affect me?

Whilst the server is updated all aspects of the Casper Suite will either be unavailable or at risk. No changes should be made at this time via Casper. This includes the JSS website, Casper Imaging and the Netboot environment.

It will therefore not be possible to image MBiL Mac OS’s at this time, use Self Service or make changes via the JSS site. User experience of the MBiL Service will not be impacted.

Timescales

The work will commence at approximately 08:30am on Monday 6th October. We anticipate completion of this work no later than 10:00am the same day.
