You now have only eight days to request software that your school requires to be installed in IT labs for the next academic year. This includes both ITS labs and School IT labs.
Software packaging is being handled by a team drawn from both ITS and Schools IT. This is to avoid duplication of effort that has occurred in previous years. Deadline for Software Requests is the end of Friday 29th May 2015

Casper has been successfully upgraded to version 9.7.2. Please be aware that the Casper Suite package and applications have also been upgraded on DesktopResources and its-dms workspaces.
Casper Suite is being upgraded to version 9.7.2.
The Casper Suite will be unavailable while the upgrade and testing are carried out. It will therefore not be possible to image the Mac OS or use the Self Service app on Macs using the Casper Suite. There may also be brief periods (<2 minutes) where users logging into the Mac OS may not get their personal workspace mapped automatically whilst the Casper server reboots.
The Windows 7 Service partition of MBiL computers will be unaffected by this maintenance.

On Friday 15th May a new Shortcut will appear on all W7 service computers (both staff and labs). New shortcut gives both staff and students web access to their Google Drive.
Data stored using Google Drive (accessed using a University account) is protected by contractually agreed enhancements through the Janet sector framework.
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5 will be rolled out to all Labs (including 3rd Party Labs) from 15/05/2015. This update has already been rolled out to the ITS Labs without issue. This program will install silently at 03:00AM when the machines are woken up automatically by Verismic. For more info on this update goto:

MATLAB R2015a (32 bit) together with all licensed toolboxes included is now available for Staff Service users to install from “Run Advertised Programs”.
MATLAB licensing is via a network licence server so users will need to be on campus or connected to campus via the VPN to connect with the licence server.
Additionally, machines will need to be registered with the licence server; please contact Nick Cope to have machines added.
These changes are now complete.
To prepare for the arrival of the new Viglen/Toshiba Machines you will need to update your Task Sequence Media to the April 2015 version. For details of this procedure please refer to KB0011246.
The BIOS Setup and Boot Menu keys for the new machines differ from the keys used on HP computers. A table listing the new keys can be found in KB0011243.
