The Windows 7 Service now supports the Toshiba Portege Z30-C. This model is based on Intel’s new SkyLake Processor and Chipset. This change has resulted in a number of challenges for the Windows 7 service.
Firstly, you will need to update your Task Sequence Media to the January 2016 from \\ws2.lboro.ac.uk\DesktopResource\Windows\W7\common\TaskSequenceMedia. This version includes the new SkyLake drivers.
In order to image a Portege Z30-C you will also need to install a new BIOS. The new BIOS and instructions can be found at \\ws2.lboro.ac.uk\DesktopResource\Toshiba\Tecra and Portege Z30-C BIOS v5-30.
The new BIOS allows you to use select Compatibility Support Module (CSM) booting mode that provides legacy BIOS compatibility. Unfortunately, once this mode is selected it is currently impossible to access the TPM chip, which means that Bitlocker encryption is not possible. We are working with Toshiba to attempt to rectify this problem.
The new task sequence will become live between 8:30 and 9:30 on Friday the 19th February. The new task sequence will be called “PC Staff Base”, not “Windows 7 Service – 2015-16 LIVE” as was the case previously. Please do not attempt to image a staff computer during this period.
