Samuel\u00a0Rawlinson<\/strong> tells us all about AU Wado-Ryu Karate<\/strong>, a hard hitting sport that welcomes anyone of any ability, whether you’re brand new or\u00a0a black belt.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

What levels of experience do you cater to?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need to have any previous experience to benefit from Wado-Ryu. If you\u2019ve done karate or a different martial art before you\u2019re also welcome. We have people from multiple styles who have joined our club.<\/p>\n

Any ability, any age, any style\u00a0– we welcome everyone!<\/p>\n

Why did you join this club?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have been practicing karate for 11 years now. I started Shotokan karate when I was 9 and decided to go with the Wado-Ryu style at Loughborough because the club was so welcoming, supportive and rewarding. I changed style because I wanted to broaden my knowledge of the martial arts world.<\/p>\n

\"wado<\/a><\/p>\n

Best or most memorable moments from your time in the club?<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I won the award for being unbeaten at an exercise called \u201cthe bear\u201d, and when we were practicing flying kicks.<\/p>\n

\"wado<\/a><\/p>\n

Describe your club in three words!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fun, rewarding and engaging<\/p>\n

Aside from the sport, what kind of social activities does your club get up to?
\n<\/strong>We go to JC\u2019s pub after training sessions\u00a0to\u00a0have a drink to chill out and we play pool and darts in\u00a0town. We also have BBQ\u2019s, The “legendary Wado Spartans social”, our Christmas ball is a blast where we have a meal in town and hire a band and this year we\u2019re going to be doing some more socials outside of Loughborough, such as going to Nottingham to the trampoline hall and paintball.<\/p>\n

\"wado<\/a><\/p>\n

Last words \u2013 what would you say to someone thinking of picking up the sport?
\n<\/strong>A great way of learning something new and practical, getting exercise, meeting new people. It\u2019s a really friendly learning environment which allows you to be serious about your training while enjoying yourself as well.<\/p>\n
