They normally come with a generous, interest-free overdraft limit, and sometimes include special offers like a year&#8217;s 16-25 railcard, but be sure to read around and fully understand anything you&#8217;re signing up to, and don&#8217;t just jump on the best freebie.<\/p>\n<h3>Budgeting &amp; the cost of living<\/h3>\n<p>Working out your\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nus.org.uk\/advice\/money-and-funding\/average-costs-of-living-and-study\/\">cost of living<\/a>\u00a0and balancing the books between what you have coming in and what outgoings you have is a good way to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk\/en\/tools\/budget-planner\">plan a budget<\/a> for the year. Everyone\u00a0has a different way of\u00a0making it work &#8211; it&#8217;s all about discovering what works for you. The key thing is to establish a clear, realistic plan and stick to it!<\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/sass\/finance\/undergraduatescurrent\/money\/\">Student Advice and Support Service<\/a>\u00a0have some really useful advice to help you with budgeting, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucas.com\/ucas\/undergraduate\/finance-and-support\/managing-money\/student-budgeting-tips\">UCAS<\/a>\u00a0have some good budgeting tips too. Remember to check you&#8217;re receiving all the financial help you&#8217;re entitled to.<\/p>\n<h3>Earn extra income<\/h3>\n<p>If you want a little extra spending money each month and feel like you have the capacity to take it on, you may want to search for a part-time job while at University. Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/service\/careers\/\">Careers and Employability Centre<\/a> run a &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/careers\/students-and-graduates\/find-jobs-opportunities\/\">Work@Lboro<\/a>&#8216; scheme which advertises part-time work in the local area on social media and via e-mail.<\/p>\n<p>You could also make use of the long University holiday periods to pick up some part-time work over Christmas, Easter, and Summer.<\/p>\n<h3>Advice\/Support<\/h3>\n<p>If when you&#8217;re at University, you find you&#8217;re struggling and want to speak to someone, our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/sass\/finance\/\">Student Advice and Support Service<\/a> offer appointments Monday \u2013 Friday.
