We are consistently in the top 20 universities targeted by the UK&#8217;s top recruiters.<!--more--> This means you will have a wealth of opportunities, placements, internships and jobs available at your fingertips \u2013 but you still have to work hard for them!<\/p>\n<h3>Get in early!<\/h3>\n<p>As a first year, you may be thinking your career is a long way off- but research shows that those who get involved earlier get noticed by employers and get ahead! So here are a few top tips to make the most out of your first year\u2026.<\/p>\n<h3>Take part in societies and sport<\/h3>\n<p>Employers favour those\u00a0who get involved with activities on campus which are outside of your studies. Taking on committee positions in a society or sport, or becoming a program rep for your course will develop your skills in teamwork, decision-making, leadership, communication and more. Not only that, but you\u2019ll have the chance to talk to some big names and find out about their opportunities first hand.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1EmjKW4\">Take a look here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Get to Know Your Careers Team<\/h3>\n<p>Each school has its own specialist careers team. They are there to support you throughout your time at Loughborough.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/careers\/about\/meet-the-team\/cget\/cet.htm\">Say hello to them<\/a>. You can also follow the team on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lborocareers\">Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We also run a workshop programme called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1olRUwA\">Direct Your Career<\/a>\u201d covering topics like CVs, covering letters, application forms, interviews and more.<\/p>\n<h3>Volunteer and Work Shadow<\/h3>\n<p>These are great ways to explore potential careers, gain experience and network with employers.
