But in a small number of cases, some students get to university and, after a few weeks, realise that the course they applied for is not for them; and this is OK!<!--more-->\u00a0But before you start taking the appropriate steps towards\u00a0changing or leaving your current course of study at Loughborough University,\u00a0here are a few things to consider&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Why do you feel this isn&#8217;t the course for you?<\/h4>\n<p>There might be a number of reasons why you are feeling this way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>uncertainty about whether it\u2019s the right subject of study<\/li>\n<li>the course may be\u00a0difficult or the assessment style does not suit you<\/li>\n<li>you might have a change in your career ideas or plans<\/li>\n<li>you may be concerned about the financial commitment in completing your course of study<\/li>\n<li>you could be\u00a0feeling homesick or struggling to settle into life at Loughborough<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-673 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"Postgraduate in the harry french bedroom\" width=\"900\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-370x246.jpg 370w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-770x512.jpg 770w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/freshers\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/25\/2015\/10\/Not-the-course-for-you-3-900x599.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Talk it through<\/h4>\n<p>If you are in this situation, please seek advice. A good starting point is to talk to your personal tutor. They\u00a0can tell you more about how the course will progress. Talk to students from your department who are a year ahead of you on your course \u2013 it\u2019s not long since they were freshers too and they can give you their experiences of the course. If you feel like you are not settling into life at Loughborough, talk to your Hall Warden or second-year students. This is a 15-minute appointment, bookable from 8.30AM on the day you would like to come in. Remember, if you are having doubts about continuing your studies, you have a huge network of support around you that you can ask for advice; from the Careers and Employability Centre, to your personal tutor,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/sass\/\">Student Advice and Support<\/a> and if appropriate, the Counselling Service. Don&#8217;t struggle on in silence!
