Loughborough family – it’s time to act now and do your bit to help others!

Giving for Gold is a joint initiative between Loughborough University, Loughborough Students’ Union and a range of local and national charities.

Throughout the first few weeks of March, we need your help to reuse and re-purpose everyday items that you no longer need to benefit others. Your positive action will not only support a range of very worthy causes, but they will also help to minimise the tonnes of waste generated every year.

And in line with the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, what better way to measure our success than to set ambitious gold, silver and bronze medal targets for the donations received.

Kidnapped Democracy uses the metaphor of captivity to illustrate the differences and similarities between conventional kidnappings and the hijacking of a political system.

Over the past few years, Italian politics has been dominated by the figure of Matteo Salvini. However, new forms of resistance have emerged. Opposition to his pervasive communication strategy and his anti-immigration discourse has recently taken the shape of the ‘Sardines’ movement, which has occupied streets and squares of many Italian cities aiming to halt the rise of the far-right.
