Each year, thousands of students get involved in the diverse volunteering opportunities at Loughborough.\u00a0There are countless projects to take part in, such as working with the elderly, coaching sport, or even volunteering overseas.<\/p>\n

Action<\/a> is the volunteering section of the Students\u2019 Union.\u00a0Last year,\u00a01,600 students took on roles with Action, contributing to an incredible\u00a020,500 hours of volunteering. We also have a Coaching and Volunteer Academy<\/a> (CVA), which provides our students with sports-based volunteering opportunities; they racked up an impressive 48,720 hours last academic year!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With so many opportunities right on your doorstep, university is the perfect time to start volunteering. We spoke to some of our students to find out about their experiences.<\/p>\n

Make a difference<\/h3>\n

Volunteering makes a real difference to the lives of others, and there are so many great causes you can get behind. Whether you wish to commit to a weekly project, or just want to help out every now and again, you will have a positive and meaningful impact on people and communities.<\/p>\n

“I volunteer because it is such an amazing cause and you get to work alongside wonderful people while potentially saving people\u2019s lives.\u201d – Aron, Loughborough Marrow Chair<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Develop your skills<\/h3>\n

Volunteering offers you the chance to broaden your experiences, develop your skills, and gain new knowledge. These experiences are invaluable and can benefit both your career\u00a0and your everyday life.<\/p>\n

“Gaining work experience can be difficult, but volunteering is a great way to get the skills and experiences employers look for. I have gained so much from volunteering, and the skills I have developed can be transferred to so many situations.” – Alex, Campus Nursery Volunteer<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Meet new people<\/h3>\n

Volunteering is highly sociable and can be a great way to meet new people. It’s an opportunity to\u00a0get to know people\u00a0away from your course, and\u00a0meet people you wouldn’t have otherwise met.<\/p>\n

Feel good<\/h3>\n

As well as doing good for others, volunteering can also improve your own well-being. It’s a great way to reduce stress, as well as giving you a sense of accomplishment.<\/p>\n
