{"id":409,"date":"2016-05-10T10:39:56","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T09:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copyright.lboro.ac.uk\/life\/?p=409"},"modified":"2016-06-01T14:23:40","modified_gmt":"2016-06-01T13:23:40","slug":"loughborough-first-glance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/life\/loughborough\/loughborough-first-glance\/","title":{"rendered":"Loughborough at first glance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unlike the many students here I did not come to Loughborough to study but to work as an intern for two months with the Web and Digital team.<\/p>\n<p>When I first arrived on the campus, coming from the train station, I took the bus to university, and it seemed to be a never-ending ride until I reached University Lodge, where I&#8217;m going to live\u00a0for the next two months.\u00a0A long ride not because the\u00a0town is so huge, but because the campus is. I would never have imagined the campus to be so big. People were walking the small paths between the flats. Every other metre a group of students was walking on the pavement heading for Loughborough. If you ever choose to take the bus, whether to Loughborough\u00a0or some other places nearby as Leicester or Nottingham, you will notice that everyone happens to be really kind to the driver. Actually people don\u2019t leave the bus without saying \u201cthanks\u201d. There is even\u00a0a sign at the entrance\u00a0which says \u201csay hello to the driver\u201d. Nobody seems to freeze in Loughborough. Is it a kind of \u201cEnglish thing\u201d? While I am wearing my winter jacket and a scarf at 10 degrees, people (well, students) around here wear shorts and flip-flops. Is that a thing all of you tend to do?<\/p>\n<p>To sum it up: Loughborough (University) seems so far a really great place to be and you feel at home immediately.
