Skeletal muscles have an impressive force and power-generating capacity. However, with intense or prolonged activation, muscle function is reduced. Despite the broad interest of the scientific community, fundamental questions remain unsolved about how activation is affected by exercise or disuse and how metabolism affects muscle regulation. Professor \u00d8rtenblad will discuss metabolic factors contributing to impaired force-generating capacity, particularly focusing on the role of muscle glucose stores (glycogen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Find out more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Join staff from Pilkington Library for the University Book Club’s discussion of Clemantine Wamariya\u2019s memoir about her experience as a childhood refugee from Rwanda, written alongside Elizabeth Weil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Content note: this book contains themes of war, violence and trauma. The workshop will help you focus on the calming effects of drawing and enjoying nature. The session will end with the creation of a small booklet containing the drawings made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is a great opportunity to relieve stress during a busy exam period.
