Recent graduate named Young Woman of the Year 2019
Alumna Zamira Abassova has recently been named Young Woman of the Year 2019 by Women on the Move Awards for her work with The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN).
The Women on the Move Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the inspirational leadership and exceptional contributions of migrant and refugee women to UK society. Zamira moved from Armenia to Azerbaijan as a refugee at just four years old. Zamira was nominated by her colleagues at The Refugee Entrepreneurial Network (TERN) for the Young Woman of the Year award.
Zamira studied Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management as a Chevening scholar and graduated in 2018.
During her studies at Loughborough University London, Zamira was introduced to TERN through the Careers and Employability team, and became a buddy to refugee Muna Osman Jama. After a short time with the organisation, Zamira went on to become a Team Manager.
TERN is a social enterprise that supports refugees in the UK to develop their own businesses. Now based in the Netherlands, Zamira works with DELITELABS – a sister enterprise to TERN.
