Caroline Norman will be delivering a presentation on Monday 19th October at Loughborough University London on the topic: why doesn’t my client understand design?
Talk Description (Why doesn’t my client understand design?)
This session will explore the differences in design and business cultures and what this means for design management. The concepts of Tacit Knowledge and Experiential Learning will be introduced, students will also be introduced to a range of management tools which will enable them to gain insight into personality profiling, learning and communication styles through their own experience.
About Caroline Norman
Caroline Norman is Course Director for the Master’s in Design Management at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD), Birmingham City University. An External Examiner at Utrecht School of Arts and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Caroline has over twenty years’ experience in design and brand consultancy. She was Managing Director of Boxer, a division of The Marketing Store Worldwide, for seven years working with a wide range of organizations including national brands, charities, small businesses and universities.
Caroline has a Master’s in Education and has been awarded two BIAD teaching fellowships. Her main interests are the relationships between designers and businesses, and those between businesses and universities.
