Hear from our previous Scholarship winners

Evaluating the full cost of postgraduate study can be a daunting process. We’re proud to make studying for a master’s degree easier than ever before through our generous range of scholarships and bursaries. Hear from our students about how receiving one of our scholarships has helped to fund their studies.

Karen Liu

Karen graduated from Loughborough University London with a MA in Media and Creative Industries. She received the Dean’s Award for Enterprise to fund her studies, which provided her with a 90% tuition discount plus business mentoring:

The obvious benefit is that the scholarship meant that I was able to pursue further study. I was desperate to study and had so much potential but couldn’t afford it without the scholarship.

There’s also the support factor – having people and professionals that support me to reach my entrepreneurial goals released some of the burdens of starting a new business. The whole experience was so much more than just studying.

Majd AbedRabbo

Majd AbedRabbo completed his studies in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management at Loughborough University London in 2016 as part of our first cohort of students:

I received a scholarship from Loughborough University London for my academic excellence and alumni status. The scholarship was really useful as it allowed me to cope with the other expenses I had to cover during my studies, like accommodation.

If you’re a Loughborough University graduate, you’ll automatically receive our Alumni Bursary, which offer a 10% tuition fee discount. Our Excellence scholarship automatically awards high-achieving students 20% off the full cost of our masters tuition fees. To be eligible, students must have a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification recognised by Loughborough University.

Vanessa Sarpong

Prior to joining Loughborough University London, Vanessa was trying to break into the Media Industry in London. With little progress, Vanessa started to make plans to relocate to Ghana, until she found out about the Inspiring Success programme, which offers a 100% tuition fee discount.

Vanessa is a local graduate and studied for her A Levels at BSix Sixth Form College just down the road from Loughborough University London. As she had previously studied in one of the East London Growth Boroughs, Vanessa was eligible to apply for the scholarship:

When I found out that I had been selected for the scholarships, I was shocked, surprised, happy and grateful. This opportunity stopped me from leaving London and starting a new life in Ghana.

Loughborough University London needs to continue investing in local people, because that’s where the leaders of tomorrow will come from. There is so much potential in East London and it has been overlooked for too long. There are many other people like me; a generation of untapped talent that is sitting dormant, waiting to be discovered.

Chikeruo Ndubuisi (Benjamin)

Benjamin graduated from University of Lagos in Nigeria before he began studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management MSc at Loughborough University London. Benjamin received the Dean’s Award for Enterprise Scholarship:

The Dean’s Award for Enterprise opened me up to opportunities that I might not have otherwise had the privilege of experiencing. Finally, it’s given me a platform to consolidate my learning on entrepreneurship and innovation.

It’s a brilliant opportunity which shouldn’t be passed up on. Have a thorough think through your business idea and write your best presentation of the idea in the application. Prepare extensively for the phone interview and show your conviction of the validity of your idea.
