Life at Claredale House

25th January 2016Lifestyle, Students Standard

MSc Sport Business and Innovation student Arthur Milroy gives an insight into what it’s like to live at Claredale House, one of our recommended accommodation options.

I live in Claredale House, a newly refurbished block of flats which is situated in Bethnal Green, about a 15 minute cycle from the campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It’s a great place to live for students who are studying at Loughborough University London.

Here are the best things about living in Claredale House:

  • Price – The price of my room is extremely good for London. *Prices range from £134 per week to £146 per week for a 39 week contract.
  • Living with other students – There is a great mix of students from different Universities across London. It’s easy to make friends and there are a great mix of backgrounds and experiences amongst those who live here. My flat is for postgraduates (with no noisy first years!) so everyone has something in common. You can also choose to be in a gender specific flat if you prefer.
  • Location – It’s so close to our campus in London with a direct bus route (388) or just a 15 minute cycle door to door – it’s also so close to central London – just a few stops on the Central Line. Buses go regularly to Oxford Circus, Waterloo and London Bridge to mention a few. It’s also next to the up and coming area of Shoreditch where most students go for a night out, to get something to eat or drink or just relax and unwind.  There are so many green spaces around like Victoria Park  where you can ride your bike, go for a run, or hire a boat on the lake.

Finally, living in Claredale House is a great choice because of the range of local markets. There is a food market on a Saturday (Broadway Market) and a craft market (Columbia Road) on a Sunday. Both are really great ways to grab a bargain, meet local people and experience what it is like to be a Londoner!
