Digital Marketing MSc student, Wariporn lists the top 5 discounts you cannot afford to miss out on as a student:

#1 Amazon Student Prime – 6 months’ free trial

There is nothing better than doing some online shopping with free delivery. Amazon is a multinational technology company that offers a wide range of products including software, electronics, furniture, stationary, make-up, and even food! If there is anything you need, Amazon will most likely have it.

If you get the Amazon Student Prime for 6 months’ free trial, you can purchase such items with Prime and receive them the next day! Deliveries can either arrive at your front door, or to your nearest Amazon Locker so you can pick it up whenever is convenient for you. With Amazon Prime, you also get access to a wide selection of movies that you can stream for free, and music!

#2 16-25 Railcard

To really make the most of your time in the UK, it is worth applying for the 16-25 railcard. With this you get 1/3 off Standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Standard Advanced and First-Class Advanced fees. This is for only £30 a year!

To apply for the 16-25 railcard, you can either go to your nearest train station with a passport style photograph and your Student ID card or apply online. It is quick and easy, and you save so much!

#3 18+ Student Oyster Card

Whilst living in London, an oyster card is a must-have! With one tap you can travel via tube, rail or bus through London. The 18+ student oyster card offers 30% off normal fees. You can apply for this online, and all you need is a passport style photo, your Student ID card and a £20 administrative fee.

Alternatively, you can apply for the standard Oyster Card and link it with the 16-25 railcard – by doing this you get 30% off too. You will just have to speak to a member of staff at any tube station to get this sorted.

The nearest tube station to Loughborough University London is Stratford Underground. The Here East bus (which is free) stops directly outside this. Having an Oyster Card makes your journey cheaper and easier, and means you can go anywhere in London after a day studying.

#4 UNiDAYS

UNiDAYS allows university students to save money online and in-store for various brands. Simply go online or download the UNiDAYS app via your Apple store or Play Store and enter your university email, university name and Student ID. You will then be able to receive student discount for many places, such as New Look, ASOS, Topshop, Adidas and much more!

Just check it out and see what discounts you get. Most places give 10% all year round to students, however this can increase at certain times in the year.

#5 Voucher Codes

Voucher Codes provides a number of deals, discounts and offers that anyone can use (some of these are for students only).

This includes a number of restaurant vouchers such as 2 for 1 on Mains, 40% off your food bill, or £5 meals. You can either access voucher codes online or by downloading the app. Just make sure you take along your voucher or you won’t get the deal!
