In this series, we will introduce you to all our of Student Support Services and let you know how we can offer you support during your studies at Loughborough University London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this blog, meet our Future Space team and find out how we can support your employability and skill development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Hello, my name is Grace Baird and I work&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/your-career\/future-space-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Future Space team<\/a>&nbsp;at Loughborough University London. My role is to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/business-partnerships\/digital-skills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Skills<\/a>&nbsp;programme&nbsp;and wider team activities and events&nbsp;run&nbsp;effectively&nbsp;whilst supporting&nbsp;our&nbsp;students.&nbsp;As a&nbsp;member of the Future Space team and&nbsp;former&nbsp;student,&nbsp;I\u2019ve written this blog to let you all know how to get the best out of the Future Space offer and your time at Loughborough.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is Future Space?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future Space exists to support you to connect to your future.&nbsp;&nbsp;We can help you with your&nbsp;ideas and your&nbsp;next step in your&nbsp;career.&nbsp;&nbsp;We can help you reflect on your skills&nbsp;and experience, set goals and access new opportunities&nbsp;that will&nbsp;enhance your CV, entrepreneurial abilities, and career prospects alongside your academic studies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Organisations Do We Work With?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chelsea FC<\/li><li>Tech Mahindra\u00a0<\/li><li>BT\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Ticketmaster\u00a0<\/li><li>West Ham United Foundation\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026and many more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Sort of Events \/ Activities Do We Offer You?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Future Space Team hosts&nbsp;a wide range of events and activities focusing on&nbsp;a range of topics including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Growing\u00a0your\u00a0Network\u00a0<\/li><li>Gaining\u00a0Experience\u00a0<\/li><li>Developing New\u00a0Skills\u00a0<\/li><li>Receiving\u00a0Advice on\u00a0Starting\u00a0your\u00a0Own\u00a0Business\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Career Planning and Support\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Future Space&nbsp;activities&nbsp;are&nbsp;split into three categories:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reflection and Action<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/your-career\/personal-best-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Personal Best London<\/a>, Careers\u00a0Events,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/your-career\/monday-mentoring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mentoring Programme<\/a>,\u00a0Guest\u00a0Lectures,\u00a0Alumni\u00a0Panels\u200b\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Skills<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:\u00a0Workshops,\u00a0Additional\u00a0Programmes and\u00a0Training\u200b\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:\u00a0Hacks,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/business-partnerships\/digital-skills\/previous-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Skills\u00a0Work Insight\u00a0Projects<\/a>, Collaborate, Volunteering,\u00a0Part-time\u00a0Work,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/study\/current-students\/ambassadors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student\u00a0Ambassador\u00a0Programme<\/a>, Post Study Work\u00a0Opportunities\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Digital Skills Programme<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One&nbsp;of the many opportunities our students&nbsp;can&nbsp;get involved with is the Digital Skills programme.&nbsp;The&nbsp;Digital Skills&nbsp;programme&nbsp;provides&nbsp;an opportunity for our students to gain skills to support their employability and take on&nbsp;6-week&nbsp;work insight projects with real companies&nbsp;and attend workshops&nbsp;to boost your digital skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our students can apply to take part in the Digital Skills programme now with work-insight projects commencing in October 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, please go to the \u2018Apply for the Digital Skills Programme\u2019 section of our LEARN page&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/course\/view.php?id=11412\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here:<\/a>&nbsp;Please note that both the&nbsp;application form and video interview parts need to be completed for students to be eligible for a&nbsp;work-insight Project.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information you can read about\u00a0some\u00a0previous\u00a0examples of work-insight projects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/business-partnerships\/digital-skills\/previous-projects\/\">here<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lborolondon.ac.uk\/business-partnerships\/digital-skills\/previous-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Do I Get Involved?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The great news is \u2013 you already are.&nbsp; In completing your&nbsp;registration,&nbsp;you will have&nbsp;filled in&nbsp;our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/mod\/feedback\/view.php?id=864741\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Personal Best London questionnaire<\/a>.&nbsp; This will help us to make recommendations for you on activities to get involved with this year.&nbsp; We will e-mail you with&nbsp;information and invitations to relevant activities and resources based on your&nbsp;Personal Best&nbsp;London Questionnaire responses&nbsp;early in Semester 1.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Future Space Team will&nbsp;also&nbsp;be hosting a range of Induction Events including&nbsp;our&nbsp;<strong>online<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>\u2018Future Space Welcome Panel\u2019 on&nbsp;Tuesday 28<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;September 2021&nbsp;(15:00 to 16.30&nbsp;UK Time)<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;You&nbsp;can book a place at this event&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/mod\/feedback\/view.php?id=1233879\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full schedule for Future Space induction activities can be viewed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=1236285\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here.<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can access these sessions&nbsp;either&nbsp;in person&nbsp;or&nbsp;online and sign up is required&nbsp;(Please note that there are capacity limits on in person activities and spaces will be given on a first come, first served basis).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have signed up, the team will&nbsp;share joining instructions with you via your @student.lboro.ac.uk email address.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other&nbsp;<strong>upcoming opportunities<\/strong>&nbsp;include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Monday Mentoring&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 need help setting goals?&nbsp; Need more help sticking to them?&nbsp; Our industry mentors are here to help.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Digital Skills Work Insight Projects<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;The Digital Skills programme&nbsp;is a two-part program which gives you the opportunity to attend workshops specifically designed to help you develop your digital skills (e.g., blogging, project management, UX Design)&nbsp;and you can also&nbsp;put your skills into practice and complete a 30hr virtual project with&nbsp;a&nbsp;London SME.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Collaborative Project<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;A feature of many of our programmes,&nbsp;this module&nbsp;offers you the chance to grow your network and make industry connections&nbsp;as part of a group of students&nbsp;to address and&nbsp;develop solutions for&nbsp;a&nbsp;real business problem provided by one of our partners&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>1-2-1 Careers Appointments<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Our careers consultants&nbsp;offer 1-2-1 career appointments to support our students and recent graduates&nbsp;(e.g., CV advice and interview guidance)&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Thinking of starting a business or consultancy<\/strong>?
