What do you wish you knew before moving to London as a master\u2019s student?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the transport system in London is very efficient, it runs on a strict timetable. If you\u2019re not at your stop on time, you risk missing your bus or train. Transport for London<\/a> (TfL) regularly carries out maintenance work, which can lead to partial closures, delays, or route changes on the Tube, Overground, and even buses. If you don\u2019t check ahead, you might find yourself stranded or rerouted unexpectedly. Always check TfL status updates<\/a> or use the TfL Go app<\/a> before leaving, especially for early morning or late-night journeys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are 5 essential items you need to pack when you move to London? And are there any items you wish you had not packed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five essential items to pack when moving to London are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Local food items<\/strong> (if allowed): Pack a few familiar food items, as they may be hard to find and, even when available, can be expensive. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Comfy shoes<\/strong>: You\u2019ll need comfortable shoes for everyday commuting. A big part of London\u2019s transport system involves walking. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. USB charger cables<\/strong>: Most buses and trains have charging ports, but many only support USB-A. If you don\u2019t have one, make sure to get one. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Thick clothing<\/strong>: It gets really cold, especially in winter. A hoodie, jacket, and gloves are essential travel items. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. An item that reminds you of home<\/strong>: Whether it\u2019s a photo, scrapbook, old journal, or anything sentimental, it can help ease the transition to a new environment. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    I wish I hadn\u2019t packed so many fashion items, as I quickly adapted to London\u2019s style, which is largely influenced by the weather. Carrying all those extra clothes just became unnecessary baggage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What are your favourite weekend activities to do in London as a master\u2019s student?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I love visiting the museums, mostly because they are historic and free to enter. I also enjoy exploring different restaurants to try new meals from various cultures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What has been your favourite part of your course\/academic year so far?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The best part of my course is how the modules are structured into blocks, which makes it easier to engage with one module at a time. I also appreciate how the assessments are designed in a very practical way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What kind of academic support is available at the University?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At the University, you\u2019re assigned a personal tutor who can guide you with any academic concerns. You can also access support for writing, referencing, or research by booking sessions with the academic librarians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How can Future Space help with your employability?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Future Space<\/a> can help with your employability by offering micro-internships, job fairs, and opportunities to work on real-world challenges through collaborative projects. They also post opportunities and professional events on the Handshake app.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
