{"id":61,"date":"2018-02-07T16:05:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T16:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copyright.lboro.ac.uk\/poetinthepark\/?p=61"},"modified":"2018-02-07T16:05:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T16:05:43","slug":"workshops-for-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/poetinthepark\/2018\/02\/07\/workshops-for-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshops for 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that the New Year has been and gone, we can announce three more seasonal writing workshops with Poet in the Park.\u00a0 All workshops will be based at the Deer Barns, at the heart of the Park.\u00a0\u00a0I look forward to meeting you, either for the first time, or once again, for more writing.\u00a0 No previous experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome.\u00a0 Details of location and how to book are below:<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 27<sup>th<\/sup> March, 10.30 \u2013 12.30 (Spring workshop)<\/p>\n<p>In this workshop we\u2019ll be looking for signs of Spring \u2013 in the wildlife, but also in the visitors to the Park.\u00a0 There will be observation exercises, and some imaginative work about the history of the Park.\u00a0 You may not write \u2018finished\u2019 poems, but I hope you\u2019ll go away buzzing with ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> June, 10-30 \u2013 12.30 (Summer workshop)<\/p>\n<p>Everyone loves Bradgate in the summertime, including the animals, birds and insects that live here.\u00a0 Again the seasons change the appearance of the Park, and brng new life and activity.\u00a0 In this workshop we\u2019ll think about life, memory, movement and words: I think that includes everything.\u00a0 As usual, you may not write a \u2018finished\u2019 poem, but you will leave warmed up by ideas!<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday September 18<sup>th<\/sup> 10.30 \u2013 12.30 (Autumn workshop)<\/p>\n<p>In this, the fourth and final workshop of the seasonal series, we\u2019ll reflect on the coming of autumn; what it means to us, and what it means to the Park.\u00a0 Everyone knows about autumn leaves and chestnuts, but what else does autumn signify? What does it mean to the Park and its inhabitants? As ever, you may not write a \u2018finished\u2019 poem, but I hope that you\u2019ll leave with plenty of ideas, ready to bear fruit \u2013 or hibernation\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Parking is \u00a33 (which covers all day) and the nearest car park is Hallgates, Cropston. You will need to walk to the Visitor Centre. Please note: there is no parking at the Deer Barns for these events.<\/p>\n<p>The Visitor Centre will be open just before 10.30 to let you in and guide you upstairs to the meeting room. Some of the session will be outside as this project is about taking inspiration from the Park and landscape,\u00a0so please dress judiciously for the June weather, the mad March weather or the strange September weather.\u00a0\u00a0Please bring your own pens\/pencils, paper and clipboards (if needed) for outside activities.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are free to attend, although we ask for donations towards tea and coffee.<\/p>\n<p>You can book by calling 0116 236 2713 extension 25 between 11 and 3.30 any day, or \u00a0by visiting our Visitor Centre.
