Here\u00a0it is, my final blog! It doesn\u2019t feel real, but I know it\u2019ll hit me next month when I don\u2019t have a blog to submit to Loughborough University. To show my appreciation to the entire #LboroFamily,<\/a> I made a\u00a0very cheesy\u00a0little video (jokes, it\u2019s 8 whole\u00a0minutes, or more), about my student experience with a shout-out to a few special people, including YOU! You can watch this\u00a0by\u00a0clicking\u00a0here!<\/a><\/p>\n

Given that it\u2019s my final blog, I think it\u2019s only right to share why\u00a0choosing\u00a0Loughborough has been the BEST decision I\u2019ve ever made in life. So here\u00a0we go:<\/p>\n

Why did I choose Loughborough?<\/b><\/h3>\n

It started off as\u00a0a pretty random choice for me because I chose it\u00a0based on its high position on the\u00a0league tables.\u00a0That said, I was almost certain that I wouldn\u2019t get in because my predicted grades didn\u2019t meet the entry-requirements. Even a teacher at sixth-form discouraged me to apply and\u00a0told me to\u00a0be \u201cmore realistic\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The first \u2018WOW\u2019 moment for me was when I received an invitation to\u00a0the Applicant Day, despite my predicted grades.\u00a0After attending, I was pretty set on wanting to study at Loughborough.\u00a0From the second I stepped into Martin Hall<\/a> for my interview, I was greeted with massive smiles from English and Drama<\/a> student ambassadors and staff.\u00a0Lecturers also interacted with me and showed an interest in what I had to say. This broke the stigma I had of lecturers being unsupportive.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After being offered a place, (conditional to achieving my predicted grades,\u00a0which is decided on a case-by-case basis), I was determined to work hard\u00a0for my A-Levels to secure my spot.\u00a0I felt so lucky to have been given this\u00a0chance by Loughborough, which\u00a0made me realise how encouraging the University is\u00a0\u2013\u00a0baring\u00a0in mind,\u00a0this was all BEFORE joining the uni. Thinking back to my sixth-form teacher\u2019s comment, coming to Loughborough has taught me to dream bigger and better and to challenge what\u2019s \u201crealistic\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

How\u00a0<\/b>would I\u00a0<\/b>describe my Loughborough Experience<\/b>?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

My first day as a Loughborough student was near the end of September 2015. My\u00a0family\u00a0settled me into Robert Bakewell Halls,<\/a> Mum obviously shed a lot of tears and then it was finally time to say\u00a0goodbye. Then, the three GREATEST years of my life had started.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In that time, I\u2019ve\u00a0done so much beyond my degree. I\u2019ve become independent by living alone,\u00a0had over 7 jobs (all of which I found through the Careers Network<\/a>),\u00a0studied in Australia<\/a> and uncovered my passion for travelling, experienced what it\u2019s like to be a film extra,\u00a0built invaluable friendships\u00a0with people from all over the world, and the list goes on!\u00a0It\u2019s crazy\u00a0to think that I may not have\u00a0had the same\u00a0experience\u00a0if I\u00a0had chosen to study elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I must admit that I had a rocky first couple of months as I wasn\u2019t used to living alone,\u00a0I used to visit home at least every other weekend. I remember feeling like I made the wrong decision and was\u00a0even\u00a0thinking about moving\u00a0uni\u2019s! But then something changed. It\u2019s so hard to describe, but I settled.<\/p>\n

I got used to those\u00a0around me and was surrounded\u00a0by people from all walks of life,\u00a0which was a massive change from where I lived in Birmingham.\u00a0I had a bit of culture shock which is so common when moving away from home.\u00a0It\u00a0can take some\u00a0time\u00a0to feel settled, but you really do get there, making\u00a0the initial hesitance worthwhile!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Having said all of that, I guess I\u2019d describe\u00a0my\u00a0Loughborough experience as\u00a0a big change,\u00a0character building.\u00a0Change\u00a0often\u00a0scares people,\u00a0it still scares me, but what reassures me is knowing\u00a0that change is good. It helps you to grow as a person\u00a0and I wouldn\u2019t have known this without the endless opportunities at Loughborough.<\/p>\n

Final Words\u2026<\/b><\/h3>\n

Gosh,\u00a0I feel so dramatic\u00a0writing these \u201cfinal words\u201d.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a prospective student and are\u00a0STILL\u00a0wondering what life at is like\u00a0at Luffs, there\u2019s only one way to find out! For those currently studying\u00a0at Loughborough, I envy you, but make the most of it while it lasts.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not too sure what my future holds. For now, I\u2019m enjoying my travels and seeing what life has to offer.\u00a0I\u2019ll definitely be visiting Loughborough when I return to the UK.<\/p>\n
