However, placement is a whole new level of independence that I didn\u2019t know existed.\u202f\u202fBeing within an environment where you\u2019re encouraged to use your own initiative and ideas to succeed is a years\u2019 experience that everyone deserves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Possibilities are endless.\u202f\u202fI set myself a goal at the beginning of placement, and that was to have a positive effect on the kids that I coach within the Epicenter (my main place of work).\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Epicenter influences the kids more than I\u2019ll ever understand, as they will spend most of their childhood growing and developing within those four walls.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My job is rewarding in many ways.\u202f\u202fWhen I flew to UAE, I had my mind set on succeeding at my placement job, and that was my only thought.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being on a placement year opens your eyes even wider to the world in front of you. Yes, the Loughborough \u2018bubble\u2019 is a huge miss, but leaving it for a year makes you more grateful for being given the chance to go back for one more year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3879\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-370x208.png 370w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4-770x433.png 770w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit4.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You meet people who at first are your colleagues, but when you discover that everyone is in the same boat, you start to bond over your mutual interest in your jobs, and they will become friends for life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being out here has taught me that independence should be encouraged, and as hard as being on your own is, learning to be able to succeed for yourself is the best success.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t get me wrong, please don\u2019t forget to succeed at your job, you will never get this opportunity again! But use this year as a year for yourself, discover new comfort&nbsp;zones.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Loughborough allowed me to find my wings, but American University of Sharjah, and the people and experiences around me, have helped me learn to fly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3880\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-370x208.png 370w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5-770x433.png 770w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/02\/edit5.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If anyone is unsure about whether placement is the right idea, I would say do it!
