{"id":3977,"date":"2019-03-19T10:00:15","date_gmt":"2019-03-19T10:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/?p=3977"},"modified":"2019-03-19T10:21:34","modified_gmt":"2019-03-19T10:21:34","slug":"balancing-your-time-at-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/arts-english-drama\/balancing-your-time-at-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Balancing your time at University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When thinking of what to write for this blog, I thought about everything I\u2019ve been juggling recently. <!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve been in a play, had family visit, had coursework due in and an interview for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/careers\/students-and-graduates\/placements\/\">placement<\/a> I really want! Struggling to balance all of this has been a challenge, particularly since I want to receive the best results for each of these. Don\u2019t we all? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, I have put together some tips and tricks for balancing your time at University and any impending exams and coursework that you may have! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Offload your pressures<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no need to worry about things which aren\u2019t a priority right now. If you have a piece of work in for tomorrow but have an interview in a week, your focus should remain on the coursework until it is done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although easier said than done, the University has many services to help accomplish this such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/it\/student\/labs\/\">24-hour computer rooms.<\/a> If you don\u2019t sleep like me, you can work to whatever hours suit you!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3979\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-370x208.png 370w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit-770x433.png 770w, https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2019\/03\/picture2edit.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting involved whilst keeping those grades up!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes at University, it can feel like there\u2019s too much on offer! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsu.co.uk\/getinvolved\/societies\/\">Societies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/sport\/\">Sports<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsu.co.uk\/getinvolved\/rag\/\">RAG<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsu.co.uk\/getinvolved\/action\/\">Action<\/a>! You may want to do it all! But University really teaches you to be an independent worker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to equalise your time between, for example, two hours of secondary reading with two hours of fun- this will also help organise you! My advice would be to have a productive break! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clean your room for a more organised study space when your head feels messy due to all the tabs open on your computer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of my favourite ways to have a break is to walk to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/library\/\">library<\/a> from my house, taking the scenic route. I have tried planning and it does not work for me. Unfortunately, recently I have been Miss Lastminute.com, starting work the week it is due. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes this is unavoidable. This can be very stressful, you should try to stay engaged with your friends so that you remember what daylight looks like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have found pub quizzes to be a brilliant solution for this.
