Over a year in Loughborough University, and <\/span><\/span>it\u2019s already time to bid farewell<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Reflecting upon my time here, <\/span>I am beaming with pride and joy and <\/span>I am <\/span>simultaneously overwhelmed with nostalgia (yes, I am already nostalgic about everything Loughborough!). <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

As this<\/span> <\/span>exciting, <\/span>enriching, empowering<\/span> an<\/span>d<\/span> at times exhausting journey<\/span> comes to an end, <\/span>this blog will cover<\/span> few of my highlights from the one year here.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

My first Campus visit<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n

T<\/span><\/span>he day I first headed to Loughborough<\/span><\/span> is clearly etched into my memory<\/span><\/span>, I <\/span><\/span>was so excited, mesmerised <\/span><\/span>(and confused<\/span><\/span> about the campus<\/span><\/span>)<\/span><\/span>, that I decided to <\/span><\/span>familiarise <\/span><\/span>myself<\/span><\/span> with the ca<\/span><\/span>mpus by<\/span><\/span> walk<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span> around the entire University<\/span><\/span>. It\u2019s <\/span><\/span>o<\/span><\/span>nly <\/span><\/span>on <\/span><\/span>reach<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span> the West Park Teaching Hub that I<\/span><\/span> realise<\/span><\/span>d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>that I was actually lost<\/span><\/span>. However, the beautiful <\/span><\/span>path<\/span><\/span>s and the buzzing never ending campus <\/span><\/span>was one of the most me<\/span><\/span>morable moments in Loughborough \u2013 and the walk helped me in my initial campus tours as a <\/span><\/span>Student Ambassador<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Picking up a new cool skill<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n

One of the best things about Loughborough is there\u2019s always something fo<\/span>r someone! A<\/span>s a part of my resolution to try something new <\/span>every month <\/span>and u<\/span>p<\/span>o<\/span>n<\/span> my friend\u2019s insistence I <\/span>went for the <\/span>Loughborough Students Fencing Club<\/span><\/a>\u2019s<\/span> Taster <\/span>S<\/span>ession and absolutely loved it! <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Soo<\/span>n<\/span> I <\/span>began attending the Fencing<\/span> training<\/span> sessions<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>was <\/span>playing few competitions (which also happened to be my first competition since junior school),<\/span> <\/span>etc. <\/span>Although I spent very little time f<\/span>encing<\/span>, it<\/span> was a great way to make new friends \u2013 who have been very encouraging<\/span> \u2013 and try something different every now and then<\/span> and challenge myself.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Travelling almost every weekend<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n

Coming to a new country was a big and exciting change \u2013 and I wanted to make the most of my time. One of the things I felt I could do because I stayed in a<\/span>n<\/span> economical and convenient town was travel. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

During my year in Loughborough, I was fortunate t<\/span>o<\/span> have the opportunity to travel almost every weekend to some place, be it <\/span>a <\/span>long work-weekend <\/span>in<\/span> <\/span>Scotland, impromptu trip to Wales or a budgeted trip to the South. Somehow, all my travelling was also a<\/span> wonderful<\/span> way to explore the country and myself<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

The UK really has some beautiful locations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Watching games live<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n

I have always thoroughly enjoyed watching matches (no matter which level), but I could only witness some of these games live in the UK. From, tennis, athletics, netball, rugby and cricket, I have managed to watch some of the legendary athletes (for instance, Roger <\/span><\/span>Feder<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span>r<\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Rahul<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>Dravid<\/span><\/span>), and some talented players by volunteering <\/span><\/span>at <\/span><\/span>CVA<\/span><\/span><\/a>. Whilst these were <\/span><\/span>one of <\/span><\/span>the most enjoyable<\/span><\/span> days<\/span><\/span>, it also facilitated in understanding my subject area<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>and enhanced my fondness for <\/span><\/span>my<\/span><\/span> chosen subject. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Submitting my assessments (especially the final one)<\/strong>  <\/h2>\n\n\n

How can there not be a reference to assessments<\/span> (pun intended)<\/span> in a blog on student life?! <\/span>In all seriousness<\/span>, assessments used to be a big part of my student life, which demanded at least 2 all-nighters, <\/span>en<\/span>dless<\/span> <\/span>hours in the study spaces and countless cups of coffee and tea. <\/span>Whilst all assessments are important, the biggest <\/span>one<\/span> was the dissertation<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Moreover<\/span>,<\/span> the panic and stress of every as<\/span>sessment was always balanced o<\/span>ut<\/span> <\/span>with<\/span> sleeping extra and going out with friends.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

No matter what <\/span>the score was<\/span>, every assessment<\/span> <\/span>brought <\/span>a new challenge to shake off the comfort <\/span>I<\/span> <\/span>had <\/span>develop<\/span>ed<\/span>. And, the highlight <\/span>i<\/span>s that they all <\/span>taught me something new \u2013 from how to improve my writing, through how to interact with the materials we had<\/span>, and <\/span>to understand what was needed <\/span>and expected <\/span>in the real world. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Now, as I plan to set out to work <\/span>pursue my career in Sport Psychology<\/span>, I<\/span> reminisce over my time in<\/span> 2018-2019<\/span> an<\/span>d wonder what would be best \u2013 go back and relive<\/span> the one year or try to stay here a little longer.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
