The Loughborough bubble is real and can be felt from the moment you step foot on campus<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the extracurricular activities, the hall culture and the homeliness that radiates across campus.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>The people who choose Loughborough, past and present, will tell you that it\u2019s one of the best decisions they made\u2026 but why choose life in the bubble?<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Home from Home  <\/h2>\n\n\n

Being a campus, and one of the largest in the UK at that, Loughborough feels very much like a student community on campus and very quickly becomes home. Bumping into friends or people you\u2019ve met becomes a regular part of Loughborough life and a great part of the social life here<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Stopping to speak to friends<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0a staple part of the Loughborough experience<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>just from walking to lectures<\/span>\u00a0or training you are guaranteed to see a friendly face,\u00a0<\/span>so it\u2019s easy to stay connected\u00a0<\/span>and keep in touch with the people\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span>you<\/span>\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0me<\/span>t (keeping an eye on the time is probably the hardest part!).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The halls<\/a> especially\u00a0<\/span>have<\/span>\u00a0their own distinct identity and pride, so competition and family are key feelings that radiate through campus. And speaking of families, the Warden<\/a><\/span>\u00a0teams<\/span>\u00a0are also available to ensure your safety and security<\/span>, and act as a support<\/span>. Hosting a range of events regularly throughout the year from bingo to punch parties<\/span>\u00a0to balls<\/span>, halls bring everyone together\u00a0<\/span>and make it hard to not become a part of the Loughborough family and feel at home.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

The heart of the Midlands  <\/h2>\n\n\n

Loughborough is the furthest University from a beach, which I was sad to find out during the summer, BUT you don\u2019t get much more midlands than that. With Nottingham just 15 minutes away and Leicester not even 10, as well as being <\/span><\/span>on a direct <\/span><\/span>route to London and a short drive away from the East Midlands Airport<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> Loughborough is very well-connected<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>for <\/span><\/span>making great trips when you fancy expanding your bubble. Whether you\u2019re partial to de-stress shopping or ice-skating, there\u2019s plenty<\/span><\/span> of opportunity<\/span><\/span> to do<\/span><\/span> a variety of activities<\/span><\/span> in and around Loughborough.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Being located in an English town and on a green campus, Loughborough has a beautiful country feel and often boasts absolutely gorgeous sunsets. Not only this, but with shops on campus as well as restaurants, takeaways (these are my staple for <\/span><\/span>un-catered<\/span><\/span> weekends), a driving range, escape rooms and pubs<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>you h<\/span><\/span>av<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span> everything you need to mix up the weekends, whilst also being able to experience the tranquil countryside setting makes Loughborough <\/span><\/span>the perfect mix of a connected yet convenient location.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Winning is in our DNA  <\/h2>\n\n\n

Boasting a variety of stats, <\/span>it\u2019s<\/span> fair to say that Loughborough speaks for itself<\/span> \u2013 and I can testify that people will say \u201c<\/span>O<\/span>ooo<\/span>\u201d when you answer the typical \u201cWhere are you studying?\u201d question <\/span>over Christmas dinner<\/span>.<\/span> Being the University of the Year<\/a> and in the Top 5<\/a> for Universities in the UK, not to mention <\/span>that <\/span>we have been climbing the league tables consistently year on year, says a lot about having a degree from Loughborough on your CV.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

It is great for your employability too! Whilst I\u2019ve been looking for <\/span>placements,<\/span> I have found that there have been a variety of companies advertising specifically to Loughborough students<\/span> \u2013 there\u2019s just something special about who you become when you have so many opportunities for personal development and a lack of boundaries.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span>t wouldn\u2019t be Loughborough if I didn\u2019t mention <\/span>our reputation for sport. Being BUCs champions<\/a> for the 40<\/span>th<\/span> year running and remaining unbeaten as well as the huge calibre of talent that the University <\/span>attracts<\/span> <\/span>speaks for itself<\/span>. As the best University in the world for sports<\/a> – <\/span>being champions <\/span>regardless of the field, just goes to show what Loughborough students can do.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Endless Opportunities  <\/h2>\n\n\n

There are no boundaries to what you can do during your time at University here. To name a few, I\u2019ve gotten a job, started to develop a business idea, am a member of hall committee, have gained internships<\/span>, visited South Africa<\/span> and I could go on. Anything you want to do you can, there\u2019s something for everyone. What I personally love most about Loughborough is that your course doesn\u2019t define you or your University experience, you can try everything and anything. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

There are a huge number of societies<\/a> for<\/span> example, you can<\/span> learn to fly, get involved with MUN or <\/span>even <\/span>building robots. Sports<\/a> here caters for every level from professional athletes to those who just want to have fun. There are a variety of sections at the Union<\/a>, so whether presenting shows is something that you want to get involved in or <\/span>being a regular volunteer<\/a><\/span>, even setting up your own business with <\/span>E<\/span>nterprise<\/span><\/a>, there\u2019s huge opportunities for personal growth.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

And even in your course, with study abroad<\/a>, a placement team, opportunities to represent your course and take leadership opportunities, there are consistent promotions and opportunities throughout the year that continue to present themselves.<\/span><\/span> The opportunities really are endless \u2013 you will never have enough time!<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

So why choose Loughborough and a life in its bubble? Studying at Loughborough opens your eyes to the possibilities both inside and outside the bubble. There is a huge sense of family, of wanting you to achieve and that the world is your oyster. You can do anything, be anything you want, and truly live a life without limits once you step foot in the bubble \u2013 ironic really that it took me stepping into <\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span> bubble to realise that<\/span><\/span> life has no<\/span><\/span> boundarie<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
