My name is Shannon and I am a student studying <\/span><\/span>an <\/span><\/span>English <\/span><\/span>degree <\/span><\/span>at Loughborough. I am currently on my Placement year as an Erasmus student in Salerno, Italy. <\/span><\/span>Choosing a University can be daunting but hopefully my top tips will point you in the right direction!<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Whilst Covid-19 has put an end to our traditional open days for now, you can still experience the Loughborough bubble<\/span> virtually<\/span>, from <\/span>the<\/span> comfort of your home<\/span>.<\/span> Attending a <\/span>V<\/span>irtual <\/span>O<\/span>pen <\/span>D<\/span><\/a>ay is the perfect way to find out more about our university<\/span> and<\/span> <\/span>to picture yourself <\/span>within our lush<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>picturesque <\/span>surroundings.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

With a little bit of preparation, the below top tips will help you to get the most out of <\/span>our <\/span>V<\/span>irtual <\/span>O<\/span>pen <\/span>D<\/span>ay<\/span>! <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Register or book your place through the University\u2019s website<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

This is an important step to ensure that your Virtual Open Day runs smoothly<\/span><\/span> as<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>the University<\/span><\/span> can <\/span><\/span>email you <\/span><\/span>the required information for the <\/span><\/span>event<\/span><\/span>! <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Do your research<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Find out as much as you can about your c<\/span><\/span>ourse and the University itself. <\/span><\/span>Thin<\/span><\/span>k<\/span><\/span> about the subject department that you w<\/span><\/span>ant <\/span><\/span>to know more about<\/span><\/span>. Then c<\/span><\/span>heck the timings of those s<\/span><\/span>pecific<\/span><\/span> talks<\/span><\/span> too, so you do<\/span><\/span>n\u2019t<\/span><\/span> miss out!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Prepare questions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Making a list of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>types\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of questions that you would like to ask\u00a0<\/span><\/span>our team<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>useful. This can be anything from y<\/span><\/span>our<\/span><\/span> c<\/span><\/span>ourse modules<\/span><\/span>, the assessment type and even h<\/span><\/span>ow far the local town centre<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is!\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Th<\/span><\/span>es<\/span><\/span>e are just a few examples<\/a> of questions that you may want to ask<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

From your c<\/span><\/span>ourse to accommodation<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>whether it be sports<\/a><\/span><\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the Students Union<\/a> – try to join as many live chats as you can<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The perks of an online\u00a0<\/span><\/span>V<\/span><\/span>irtual\u00a0<\/span><\/span>D<\/span><\/span>ay is that you can join more than one talk so feel<\/span><\/span>\u00a0free<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to join one\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that feels right\u00a0<\/span><\/span>for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0All of our departments provide the opportunity to ask<\/span><\/span>\u00a0many<\/span><\/span>\u00a0questions in the live- chat sessions. This means that you can get\u00a0<\/span><\/span>your<\/span><\/span>\u00a0queries answered instantly!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
