{"id":1096,"date":"2012-02-20T14:18:27","date_gmt":"2012-02-20T14:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copyright.lboro.ac.uk\/elearning\/?p=1096"},"modified":"2012-02-20T14:18:27","modified_gmt":"2012-02-20T14:18:27","slug":"the-instant-collaborate-kit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/teaching-learning\/2012\/02\/20\/the-instant-collaborate-kit\/","title":{"rendered":"The &#039;Instant Collaborate&#039; kit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the uses to which we put our web conferencing software is the \u2018Lunch and Lecture\u2019 series which is part of an EU-sponsored Transport Technology MSc in Civil and Building Engineering.<br \/>\nEach month the part-time MSc students gather for a lunch followed by an afternoon of lectures on transport planning topics by guest lecturers.   To promote participation from outside students, the presentations are webcast using Elluminate\/Collaborate.<br \/>\nOne problem is that the venue is rarely the same, so we have put together a kit which contains everything needed to host a Collaborate meeting in any room with power and networking points.  It addresses many common problems, such as:<br \/>\n\u2022\tNever enough power points<br \/>\n\u2022\tNon-intrusive recording of the presenter<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to field incoming comments from remote participants<\/p>\n<p>The kit contains:<br \/>\nLogitech Sphere motorised webcam\tZoom, pan and tilt allows field of view to be set from any placement of<br \/>\n                                        the camera.<br \/>\nPowered speakers\t                To allow the local audience to hear remote questions.<br \/>\nTargus laser pointer + airmouse\t        Gives presenter freedom to move around as normal and still control<br \/>\n                                        presentation (provided they stay in shot!)<br \/>\nKAM lapel and stick radio microphones\tLapel mike for presenter and stick mike for audience both feed a mixer<br \/>\n                                        in the receiver = one sound input to Collaborate.<br \/>\nUSB headset for moderator\t        So the moderator in the room can handle audio as well as text from<br \/>\n                                        remote participants.<br \/>\nEvery conceivable lead, adaptor and spare batteries\tBecause nobody ever has the one you need!<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 and needs the addition of two laptops, one for the presenter and the second for a moderator.<\/p>\n<p><a href='https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/elearning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Instant-Collaborate-kit.pdf'>More details of the Instant Collaborate kit<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the uses to which we put our web conferencing software is the \u2018Lunch and Lecture\u2019 series which is part of an EU-sponsored Transport Technology MSc in Civil and Building Engineering.
