This is part of a series of celebrations\u00a0taking place\u00a0this Friday, 7 March 2014.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, the IT information screens will honour women&#8217;s achievements past and present, local and global, in the arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering, science and technology.\u00a0Many of the names used on the IT information screens were generated by\u00a0enthusiastic submissions and\u00a0the organisers\u00a0hope that people enjoy\u00a0seeing\u00a0their choices on screen\u00a0this Friday.\u00a0The organisers intend that this will be the first manifestation of an annual event here at Loughborough University\u00a0and they will keep\u00a0us all\u00a0posted about further developments in future.<\/p>\n<p>A copy of the associated PPT slides to be used is also available\u00a0via <a title=\"International Women's Day PPT slides\" href=\"http:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=306348\" target=\"_blank\">Learn<\/a>, and colleagues are encouraged to use\u00a0them in their own lectures, etc., this coming week, i.e. as a prelude to seeing the slides on screens in the &#8216;public&#8217; spaces across campus\u00a0this Friday. We are assured that there are\u00a0no copyright issues and that colleagues are very welcome to use\u00a0them as a teaching tool\/discussion starter.\u00a0A range of\u00a0disciplines, times and places, as well as a healthy mix of LU women are included, and the show runs for around\u00a07 minutes in total \u2013 i.e. perfect for the &#8216;filing in&#8217; and &#8216;filing out&#8217; of lecture theatres!<\/p>\n<p>Also\u00a0this Friday, 7 March 2014,\u00a0<b>RADAR is hosting a symposium entitled <em>Making Something from Nothing<\/em>, <\/b>organised by Assunta Ruocco, a PhD candidate in the School of the Arts: go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.lboro.ac.uk\/radar\/project\/questions_of_value\/symposium\/\">http:\/\/www.arts.lboro.ac.uk\/radar\/project\/questions_of_value\/symposium\/<\/a>\u00a0for more details.
