{"id":583,"date":"2013-03-28T15:37:34","date_gmt":"2013-03-28T15:37:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copyright.lboro.ac.uk\/teachingandlearning\/?p=583"},"modified":"2013-03-28T15:37:34","modified_gmt":"2013-03-28T15:37:34","slug":"peer-support-at-lboro-enhancing-the-student-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lboro.ac.uk\/teaching-learning\/2013\/03\/28\/peer-support-at-lboro-enhancing-the-student-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Peer Support at Lboro: Enhancing the Student Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.lboro.ac.uk\/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fwww.lboro.ac.uk%2fdepartments%2fmec%2f&amp;srcid=28775&amp;srctid=1&amp;erid=2075260&amp;trid=075a3375-3b97-4c5b-a338-4e3db27c2d64\">Mathematics Education Centre<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.lboro.ac.uk\/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fwww.lboro.ac.uk%2fservices%2fteachingcentre%2f&amp;srcid=28775&amp;srctid=1&amp;erid=2075260&amp;trid=075a3375-3b97-4c5b-a338-4e3db27c2d64\">Teaching Centre<\/a> have teamed up to host a practice sharing event entitled <strong>Peer Support at Lboro: Enhancing the Student Experience<\/strong>\u00a0in James France (Room CC.1.11) from 1:30pm to 4:30pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>This is just one element of\u00a0a wider peer support project which has been facilitated by Loughborough University Development Trust&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.lboro.ac.uk\/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2falumni.lboro.ac.uk%2fLboroFund&amp;srcid=28775&amp;srctid=1&amp;erid=2075260&amp;trid=075a3375-3b97-4c5b-a338-4e3db27c2d64\">Loughborough Fund<\/a>, and also includes the public-facing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lboro.ac.uk\/services\/teachingcentre\/educationalthemes\/supportforstudents\/peersupportdirectory\/\">Peer Support Directory<\/a>, as well as a Learn module entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/learn.lboro.ac.uk\/course\/view.php?id=6363\">Peer Support Community of Practice<\/a>. The main drivers behind this event and these resources\u00a0are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>to stop colleagues from reinventing the wheel when it comes to peer support, but to encourage learning from one another;<\/li>\n<li>to get a better idea of the range of possibilities out there, both internally and externally, whether they are academic and\/or pastoral in nature;<\/li>\n<li>to encourage more examples of peer support to spring up across the University, and in turn to attract ever greater\u00a0buy-in from staff and students; and<\/li>\n<li>to provide\u00a0mechanisms for connecting people, sharing experiences and developing effective practice so that objectives 1) to 3) are met.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More details\u00a0regarding the practice sharing\u00a0event will become available in due course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This resource was funded through the Loughborough University Development Trust. The Trust exists to support the University in giving students an outstanding quality of educational experience. It raises funds from former students and other friends of the University.
