Many thanks these were both really inspiring presentations. I was enthralled by Emily’s account of how temporary ‘ghosts’ of Picasso’s drawings informed the final work. Jo’s use of water as a co-producer in her work really resonates with me in my environment and art practice using luminal space. Her talk leaves me wondering how her ideas develop if preparation extends to constructing a drawing in water soluble media on site as a first interaction which can then be committed to the water as a second time interaction?

Hi Maggie,
Thank for your question. The work in water is all make on site, in the natural body of water. Each project or series begins with a process of experiments in the water as I feel I am ‘getting to know’ that particular place and at this stage I try our different inks, scale of paper, physical gestures and locations. So there isn’t the distinction between on site ‘water soluble media’ and a ’second time interaction’.
