At some point in your job hunting you may well be asked to take a psychometric or aptitude test. It’s important to keep tests in perspective; often they are only one of several selection tools used by an employer in assessing your suitability
Traditionally pencil-and-paper but increasingly computerised, psychometric tests are structured exercises, often in the form of multiple-choice questions. They are designed to test your reasoning abilities, or how you respond to different situations. Tests have been researched and trialled and your results are usually compared with how others have done in the tests in the past.
If this sounds all-too daunting, have no fear! The Careers and Employability Centre has put together a useful lowdown on psychometric tests and we also have a number of online practise tests you can have a go at. Fantastic!
