Postgraduate Study in the USA: Scholarships, Events, and Advice

Are you interested in postgraduate study in the USA in 2015-16 or beyond?

Read on for ways the US-UK Fulbright Commission can help, through our scholarship programme, advisory service, and upcoming webinar on postgraduate study.

Fulbright Scholarships for 2015-16 – For UK Citizens to Study in the USA
Application Deadline: 31 October 2014

The Fulbright Commission is the only organisation that offers scholarships for academic work in any subject, at any accredited US university. Each year, we give awards to approximately 40 UK citizens, including approximately 25 at the postgraduate-level. More than funding, our awards offer scholars the opportunity to have a transformative cultural and academic experience and provide unparalleled support both during and after their Fulbright year. In addition to the all-disciplines category, we also offer subject-specific awards in partnership with prestigious UK and US institutions in fields such as public affairs, journalism, law, finance and information science.

(Non-UK citizens are encouraged to use our advisory service in the UK, but to apply for Fulbright scholarships through the Commission or Embassy in their home country.)

18 – 25 year olds needed for placements across Africa and Asia on VSO ICS (International Citizen Service)

VSO is one of the biggest and most respected names in volunteering for international development. The organisation has a 50-year track record of recruiting volunteers to live and work in developing countries and of bringing their skills, commitment and enthusiasm to play a major part in tackling poverty.
VSO ICS is funded by the UK government’s Department for International Development, giving UK young people the opportunity to live overseas for 10 -12 weeks, and work on impactful development programmes.

All costs are covered including flights, accommodation, visas, vaccinations and an allowance whilst on placement. We do ask volunteers to fundraise around £800 prior to the placement and are given extensive 1 to 1 fundraising support from ICS staff. There are also many grants and bursaries available.
