These drop-in sessions offer quick advice or guidance on mental health and wellbeing. Your concerns may be to do with several things including life events, wellbeing, financial difficulties, physical health or injury.
There are lots of options for support at Loughborough University. The Wellbeing Team are here to support you with problems that may impact you on your academic journey. The team may also help to connect you with another team or service that are better able to do so.
Managing Anxiety

In this workshop, you can explore some ideas of how to recognise anxiety and learn strategies to begin the manage different reactions.
Peace Cafés
16 January 2024, 1.30pm-2.30pm, EHB211/SCH105
To promote healing, fellowship and community, the Chaplaincy is running two Peace Cafés, one each for members of the Jewish and Muslim communities.
The events will be held in EHB211 for Jewish staff and students and SCH105 for Muslim staff and students.

Arts in Motion: Get into the Bollywood groove – Dance, Drama, and Delight! With Riddhi Naik

Charnwood Forest Geopark Visiting Artist Day
20 January 2024, 10am-4pm, Various sites around Charnwood
Join us for a day of workshops, interventions, presentations and films that respond to the environment of Charnwood Forest Geopark.
LU Arts and Charnwood Forest Geopark invited three artists to engage with this site of globally significant geology, as well as landscape rich with wildlife and heritage.
Andrea Abbatangelo – Randomness (artist-led workshop)
20 January 2024, 10am-1pm, The Outwoods
Artist Andrea Abbatangelo is interested in having a deeper engagement with nature through listening and observing and exploring the natural environment of Charnwood Forest Geopark using smartphones, cameras and portable microscopes.
During the workshop you will explore parts of The Outwoods and Beacon Hill Country Park using exercises to sharpen your observation skills and deepen your engagement with the natural environment.
Becky Lyon – Geohaptics: In Touch with Morley Quarry
In response to these ideas and in the company of this extraordinary site, Becky Lyon has generated three moving image gestures, or ‘rough cuts’ contemplating the movement inherent in the ongoing shaping of this site and the intimate contact invoked between these rock bodies and her own.
You can drop into St Mary’s in Charnwood Church anytime between 1pm and 4pm to experience the moving image work. You are also welcome to visit Morley Quarry on the day to see the incredible ancient rocks for yourself and Becky’s on-site artist interventions.
Frances Scott – Holotype (2024)
20 January 2024, 2pm-4pm, Woodhouse Eaves Youth and Community Centre
Holotype is a talk and presentation that comprises elements of an expanded film, produced during a short period of research commissioned by LU Arts at Loughborough University and Charnwood Forest.
The research brings together digital footage, volumetric and 3D models with synthesised voice and readings by Frances and Dave. Material was drawn from site visits to Charnwood Forest, Oxford University Museum of Natural History ‘casts’ collection, fossil datasets, and phone conversations with Tina Negus.
Exhibition: Is Jewellery Making Research?
12-24 January 2024, 12pm-2pm (weekdays only), Martin Hall Exhibition Space
Jewellery as a form of art, social and cultural impact. Exhibition project curated by Roberta Bernabei.
The exhibition presents a selection of pieces of jewellery and their research portfolios, where the protagonist is not the jewel but the research investigation through making the artefact. From a practice-based research perspective, the answers to these investigations take the shape of visual and physical artefacts.
