Loughborough’s social media highlights in 2016

It’s the end of another incredible year at Loughborough; and the same goes for our social media!

January

Starting the year off with a bang; some snow extended the festive feeling and always provides some incredible photos. We also opened our fantastic new learning facility; the West Park Teaching Hub.

February

Alongside the launch of our Annual Review, we asked for your standout moment at Loughborough. We could add a Charlie the cat highlight for every month (in fact, we pretty much have in this Twitter Moment), but we loved this particular photo from February.

March

A huge achievement for Loughborough took social media by storm as we shared the news of Loughborough’s success in the Times Higher Student Experience Survey.

April

More award and league table success! Fantastic to engage with our alumni who are still proud to #WalkOnWater!

Fun fact – did you know our Star Wars gag from this month featured in the Huffington Post? Pretty cool!

With graduation on the horizon, we prepared the sign at the front of campus for a busy season of being climbed on and countless photos. Our June Open Days also provided the first look for many future prospective unis to really feel the Loughborough spirit!

So many amazing memories from our summer graduation ceremonies, but it was brilliant to see hundreds of happy faces around our large #LboroGrad2016 letters. We also took BUCS victory for a 36th year! And PokemonGO happened…

A huge month for our student and graduate athletes at the Olympic games; great to rustle up some Loughborough support from legends such as Seb Coe! Check out more great content from Rio 2016 on our dedicated website. It was also time to meet (via the internet!) our newest arrivals to Loughborough with our #LboroFamily campaign.

So much great stuff to look back on from September; Open Days, Paralympic success, Sports Uni of the Year and a particularly huge piece of graduate success – including a tweet from actual Bill Gates!

We looked back at our Rio 2016 success with Olympians and Paralympians in at a swanky event in London. Plus, a spooky end to the month with an #LboroFamily themed celebration. Boo!

November

This artwork set the internet alight! Hugely talented student Phoebe-Rose was selected to display her work at a Game of Thrones pop-up exhibition in London. We also had tennis superstar Judy Murray on campus!

December

We couldn’t see December out without some Christmas content! We also hugely enjoyed our winter #LboroGrad2016 ceremonies, including the first ever at our London campus! We think VC Bob’s Boomerang pretty much summed up the event…
