Quest Overseas is celebrating five successful years of fundraising through its charity arm, Quest4Change by offering students the chance to apply for a Bursary worth £1,000. The award will go towards the cost of one of our summer projects this year, where teams of volunteers spend 4-6 weeks over the summer working alongside local communities on one of our long term development projects based in either Africa or South America.
As one of the founding members of the Fair Trade Volunteering movement, Quest Overseas is passionate about ethical volunteering with an unwavering commitment to long term support for our volunteers and the host communities we work with.
Example Project -Kenya Water Relief
The Eastern Province of Kenya is semi-arid and suffers from poor soil fertility and limited rainfall, making it prone to food shortages and drought. Students will be working side by side with local community groups and our project partners, Excellent Development and Africa Sand Dam Foundation, to construct much needed sand dams. These pioneering dams provide a much needed source of water which improves health and raises income through improved farming initiatives.
Quest Overseas looks for dedicated, enthusiastic and thoughtful volunteers to join our projects, and all prospective volunteers must go through our application and interview process. The same applies to applicants for the sponsored place, however Quest is looking to sponsor an individual who goes above and beyond these criteria, and can show that they are truly committed to the project. They are looking for someone who is passionate about the aims of the project, and will see this opportunity as a real chance to get involved in something that they are dedicated to. Applicants are invited to explain in no more than 500 words why they feel they should be considered for the award.
