MILKROUND AND THE TIMES LAUNCH £5,000 STUDENT COMPETITION

Winning entry to be published in The Sunday Times and on Milkround.com

Leading graduate career website Milkround have launched a competition giving current students the chance to win £5,000 towards their living expenses at university. In partnership with The Times and The Sunday Times, it marks the publication of the Good University Guide.

The competition, which opened this weekend with the publication of the Good University Guide in The Sunday Times, asks students to answer, in 500 words or less, “how confident do you feel about your future career and how do you think university is helping you?” As well as receiving a cash prize of £5,000, the winner will also have the chance to write an article on student life which will be published in The Sunday Times and on Milkround.com. The judging panel will be made up of education experts from The Sunday Times, Milkround, and student charity AIESEC.

Alastair McCall, Editor of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, said: “Money worries at any time can be stressful and distracting – even more so at university. Winning this competition will make it much easier for one lucky student to concentrate on their studies, and enjoying their time at university. The chance for a student to feature in The Sunday Times doesn’t come along too often, and is a great addition to your CV once you graduate.”

“University is an important part of young people’s lives, and we’re looking forward to finding out about students’ experiences, and how they feel about life after graduation.”

Alexandra Sydney, Head of Marketing at Milkround commented: “We are really excited to be collaborating with The Times to offer this great prize to a student to help support them through their university life. Along with the £5,000, the chance to have their article published on Milkround and The Sunday Times offers a unique opportunity for the lucky winner, which will set them apart from their competition in the all-important graduate job hunt.”

The Good University Guide is part of The Times and The Sunday Times Education Month. It provides the definitive ranking of British universities, based on their performance in a number of key areas for undergraduates. These cover student satisfaction with the quality of their teaching and academic feedback, course content and facilities; graduate job prospects; the likelihood of achieving a high-class degree; entry standards; research quality; student/staff ratio; and spending on library and other student services.
