Adventures out of Loughborough
The cold is slowing leaving us and boy am I excited! Coming from a very hot country, I definitely prefer heat over cold; and after living in England for more than a year, I am still not used to the freezing cold winter.
With the weather getting warmer, I tend to leave the house more; not just step foot outside my house to get to lectures but go outside of Loughborough as well! The simplest way to get out of Loughborough is to catch a train at Loughborough train station. Or if you have a friend who can drive, beg them to chauffer you around.
The largest nearby cities are Nottingham and Leicester (my personal favourite places to visit).
Leicester, approximately 10 minutes by train and 30 minutes by car, is quite a small city with two small shopping centres, Highcross and Haymarket, perfect for your shopping essentials. There are several famous restaurants that Loughborough doesn’t have: Turtle Bay, Wagamama’s, Frankie & Benny’s, Stonebaked Pizza Company, and so many more. They also have the marvellous Curve Theatre with several plays and musicals being put on every month.
Nottingham, 20 minutes by train and 40 minutes by car. Being an even bigger city, it has even more excellent restaurants, some that I’ve never even heard of and am yet to try. The past few times I have been, I have been a little more adventurous.
Two of my favourite activities were Planet Bounce and Escapologic. Planet Bounce is a trampoline park that lets you bounce all the stress away; they even include dodge ball and basketball areas. Escapologic is full of small escape rooms, each with a different storyline, you get locked in a room for an hour and you have to, as you guessed… escape!
But after all this chat about Leicestershire, Loughborough is still forever in my heart and will always be where I am most comfortable.
