Dancing fever
Hello again everyone! I hope everyone’s February is going well. The stressfulness of coursework hand-ins and exams are finally over and we have plunged straight into semester two. I am definitely ready for more essays and performances.
As mentioned in my first blog post, I am part of AU Dance and this month we had our 3-day annual dance show. If anyone has seen the show last year, they will know how professional it looks, the result of how much we practice towards the final show.
This year’s theme was ‘Route 66’, so all the dance’s themes had to be related to America somehow. My jazz dance was inspired by a Cherokee tribe, my ballet dance by flapper girls, my hip-hop dance by a Super Bowl half-time show and my contemporary dance by an American war. The tickets were all sold out and the audience was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to try dance to join the club next year.
I have recently been quite interested in reading and listening to poetry and I found the University really encourages poetry. The Loughborough Women’s Network is having a festival on 15th March and one of my classmates is involved in it. I have been given the opportunity to perform poetry.
On the 27th of March, a popular event known as Speech Bubble is returning at the Students Union. This will be a night filled with spoken word and open mic performances and I will definitely be attending. If you aren’t busy, feel free to drop by. You’ll only need to show your student card to get in.
That’s it from me this month. Hope your February was more eventful then mine! See you all next month.
